NDIS Approved Telehealth Services

With COVID-19 restricting people’s movements outside their homes, particularly those who are vulnerable or immune-compromised, providers are looking for safer alternatives to face-to-face services. Service delivery via digital platforms, such as teletherapy or telehealth, is now a widely accepted means of receiving therapy.

Many NDIS therapy sessions can occur as a telehealth appointment without affecting the quality of the treatment provided. There is no change to the way these sessions are funded. The line items and billing are the same as face-to-face appointments and offer the added benefit for some participants in reducing costs, such as travel costs and allowing participants who live remotely to access services more easily.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is a consultation with a healthcare provider that takes place over the phone or via a digital medium, like a computer, tablet, or smartphone video.
During the peak of COVID-19, telehealth consultations became a common way for GPs, specialists, and allied health practitioners to see patients and clients without the unnecessary risk of infection and travel.

At Connect2Care, our telehealth services use technology to allow our Therapists to provide services to their clients remotely. Telehealth appointments can take place with the use of a phone, tablet, or computer. Our friendly administration staff and Therapists are trained in using telehealth and can guide you easily through the process.

Who Can Benefit from Telehealth

At Connect2Care, we can provide telehealth appointments for many therapies, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology, Dietetics, and even Exercise Physiology. Providing these services via telehealth enables people who are living in rural and remote locations, to access services where access to specialist therapeutic support might not be available in their immediate communities.

Telehealth appointments are also suitable for people who have difficulty accessing the community as it allows them to access allied health services from their home.
Other benefits include:

  • Access to services to those who are in isolation, have school or facility closures, or due to self or household members being unwell
  • Access to services for those who are immunosuppressed or vulnerable
  • Access to services for those in rural and remote locations
  • No travel costs associated with telehealth
  • Often reduced wait times for clients

Why Choose Connect2Care for Telehealth

At Connect2Care, we ensure the quality of our telehealth services are conducted to the same high standards as our face-to-face sessions. Our telehealth equipment is secure, reliable and fit for purpose.

Our Therapists are trained to deliver their services via telehealth. We guide our clients to ensure they have the correct setup and are in a suitable environment for their sessions, including ensuring they have adequate privacy, connection quality, and minimal distractions.
We provide IT and administrative support to clients for both the setup of telehealth appointments and troubleshooting if there are technical or connection issues during the session.

Our Therapists will always conduct a risk assessment prior to the telehealth appointment to ensure it can take place in a safe and suitable environment.

How to Access Telehealth

We use an application called Teams to conduct the Telehealth consult and have had incredible responses to therapy provided in this way.
To participate in a telehealth appointment, clients will need access to the following:

  • A home computer (desktop or laptop), tablet or mobile phone
  • Working internet
  • An attached or inbuilt camera on the digital device

Once your telehealth appointment has been arranged, our experienced administration team can walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have prior to the appointment.

You will receive a link to the telehealth appointment prior to the session in order to attend your appointment with the therapist.

Our Mobile Services

As well as telehealth, Connect2Care offers a mobile service where we travel to our clients. This is helpful for people who prefer in-person appointments but cannot travel to an allied health practice for treatment.

We work with clients, their families, and caregivers to create individualised home therapy programs.
